2006 I noticed a place were a lot of alumroot were growing. However, part of the cliff was washed away and a few alumroot plants were hanging by very small pieces of root. They were surely going to die. So I carefully pulled the plants out and put them in my shady side rock garden. Alum have thin, fibrous roots that go very deep. Two alumroot plants took right away but a third looked sad for a year then picked up and now looks ok.
2008 The image at the top of this page shows one of them blooming. The very next day, the deer ate the bloom.
2008 I would like to find a way to protect my three plants and try to collect seed.
