One very positive aspect of living
here at high altitudes is the lack of insects. On a summer evening, we can sit on our deck with the outside light on and not have a single bug bother us. We have no mosquitoes and very few moths.
I have had cabbage borers only once in my cole crops in over ten years of gardening. Every summer, a few grasshoppers move into the garden but do no damage. Spinach grows without leaf minors. Carrots, beets, and onions are never bothered by wire worms. I have never used pesticides in my vegetable gardens here.
This is wonderful.... |
